Eat The Rainbow

Summertime....and the livin is easy....and the perfect time to eat right! Gardens are overflowing with fruits and veggies, farm markets have season picks in all colors and varieties.  Its time for feasting on the bounties of the earth! Eat the Rainbow - by loading your diet with a variety of colors! This is the way to insure you are getting the right nutrition in balance - red strawberries and tomatoes, green broccoli and asparagus, yellow cantaloupe and peaches, blue eggplant and plums....YUM!

According to the USDA, people who eat more fruits and veggies as part of a healthy diet are likely to have a reduced risk of developing the risk of stroke, type 2 Diabetes, coronary heart disease and other cardiovascular issues. Fruits and veggies also help protect against certain cancers. And eating fresh fruits and veggies, also help prevent obesity! Most fruits and veggies are natually low in sodium, fat and calories and contain no cholesterol.

By eating a variety of fruits, veggies, grains, legumes, you can be sure you will be getting the right nutrition, without the fat for a great summer fare - minus the calories!
